Thompson". ; Scarce World War One troop magazine. A bound volume of 39 issues (including 1 double issue), an intermittently broken run from Vol I No. 3 (September 19 1916) through to Vol V No. 61 (January 24 1919). The issues are numbers: 3 - 13, 25 - 30, 34 & 35 (double issue), 36 - 38, 40, 43 - 49, 52, 54 - 61. These cover the dates September 29 1916 - February 14 1917; August 22 1917 - October 31 1917; January 2 1918 - February 27 1918; March 27 1918; May 10 1918 - August 2 1918; September 13 1918; October 11 1918 - January 24 1919. New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Fortnightly publication, each issue 24 pages. Bound (later 20th century?) in black cloth boards with red panel and gilt lettering on spine. Page dimensions: 270 x 208mm. "A paper to gather and dispense all interesting information concerning New Zealand soldiers in Europe, and a gazette of New Zealand patriotic efforts in this country. Correspondence and contributions are earnestly requested from the soldiers, and they are warmly invited to call at the Editor's Office, 11, Southampton Row, when in London. All material sent is subject to the censorship of the Editor and the Public Censor, and the Editor reserves all right of publication." Subtitle changes between issues #30 and #34 from "Records of Matters Concerning the Troops and Gazette of Patriotic Effort" to "Records of Matters Concerning the Troops". Contents includes illustrations, cartoons, verse, hospital reports with long lists of names; casualty lists; correspondence; reports and contributions from soldiers; advertisements. This volume has 39 of the 61 issues published.
