A UK first edition, first impression. THE WRAPPER : The evocative period wrapper on this copy ( artwork by Evelyn Cooke ) is bright and complete. It is unclipped, showing the price 10s 6d on the inside flap. The front panel is bright and unfaded. The spine is clean and unfaded. It shows a tiny hint of rubbing to the ends. The back panel is sound, showing light wear and two very small chips to the bottom edge. Looks sharp in protective plastic. THE BOOK : The book is square and very tight. The boards are clean and unfaded. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are bright. There are no loose or dog-eared pages.
