B&W Photographs; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 269 pages; HC/DJ. 1st edition. Uncommon. Soundly bound in original orange cloth with titles boldly in black to cover and spine. Original pink paper dust jacket prsent in worn and damges condition. Jacket is split at the front flap and frontspine joint, has the lower 1/3 of the front panel detached with a jagged tear but still present. Lower 1/3 of jacket spine missing and lower 1/3 of rear panel torn away and missing. We have mended the separations and tears with japanese kozo on the reverse surface of the jacket and laid the whole in an archival dust jacket cover. Contents clean and unmarked. Expected light general toning to page stock and offset toning to text pages facing the b&w photo plates. Scarce 1st edition of this collection of contemporaneous Nehru essays and writings during the burgeoning Independence movement and on the cusp of the 2nd World War. VG in Poor only dust jacket.
