Willis Grey, etc. etc. Rare First Edition. 96 pp. Published by Raphael Tuck & Sons, Ltd., publishers to Her Majesty the Queen, London, England, 1897. No. 1532. Features 12 chromolithographic plates, black & white half-title and title page vignettes and numerous text illustrations. Spine bound in maroon paper with children's illustrated cover on light beige paper over boards. The coloured plates are by Frances Isabelle Brundage (1854-1937), an American illustrator who worked extensively for Tuck, producing postcards, valentines, calendars, etc. She also illustrated novels by Louisa May Alcott, Johanna Spyri and Robert Louis Stevenson. Inside book contains an inscription (xmas/98 - 1898?). There is some wear on outer edges and fraying on spine as expected for age. Also inner intro pages have some spotting. Binding has broken on "A Midsummer's Dream" page. (refer to photos). This book is now 127 years old! From a private collection. Please contact seller for shipping costs.
