Item description from seller

The Child-Lore Dramatic Reader was written by Catherine T. Bryce and has some black-and-white illustrations and decorations but no illustrator is mentioned. The book was published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1908 and appears to be a First Edition though it is not stated as such. It's NOT an ex-library copy but WAS the property of Cedar St. School in an Oanton Public Schools district, was used in a 2nd Grade Supplementary Reading program . . . and is only in good condition, at best. It has the wear of many little hands. In addition to the nostalgia which might be aroused it does have a "gimmick" that was used that I'm sure is still used . . . somewhere. Each of the stories is written so as to be "dramatized, read and retold by the children. Each story is in the form of a play, and there are 27 little stories. The book is 5 1/2" by 7 3/8" and has 115 pages with a Table of Contents, the fore-mentioned illustrations, and a section at the back of the book titled "Suggestions for Dramatization of Stories." This is how it was . . . a hundred and some years ago. Amazing. Thank you.
