"You've heard the Fake News about President Trump's final year in the White House. Now read the truth, written by the man who saw it all happen. When Mark Meadows became President Trump's fourth chief of staff on March 6, 2020, life in the United States had never been better. Unemployment was at an all-time low, and the stock market was at an all-time high. During his first three years in office, President Trump had kept more of his campaign promises than any president in modern history, and that record of success was only going to continue. By all accounts, he was going to sail to victory with the ease of a Democrat getting interviewed on CNN. Not even the dirtiest electoral tricks could stop him. Then, in what seemed like the blink of an eye, a deadly coronavirus arrived on our shores, almost certainly from a lab in Wuhan, China, and brought the Trump economy screeching to a halt. Suddenly, our streets were empty, and our hospitals were full. Millions of Americans were scared, lonely, and unemployed, all while the global economy teetered on the edge of collapse. One wrong move by President Trump and his team could have ushered in years, even decades, of irreparable harm. In this frank, candid account of his ten months in the White House, Mark Meadows - known simply as "the Chief" around the West Wing - tells the thrilling story of how he and a close team of loyal advisors helped President Trump navigate one of the worst years in American history. He brings readers into the Oval Office, the Situation Room, and the private suite of Walter Reed Hospital, where President Trump was taken after he came down with Covid-19. Along the way, he refutes the outrageous lies that have been told about consequential events, such as President Trump's response to cities burning across America, his walk to St. John's Church, and his quick recovery from Covid-19. This is the truth as only Chief Meadows could tell it. In a style that is accessible, suspenseful, and often humorous, Meadows pulls back the curtain on the West Wing as it was run by President Trump, fighting the false narrative of the Fake News with the real details of what he saw. This is a definitive book about the final year of President Trump's first term, told by one of the few key advisors who was with him every step of the way." - from the inner front and rear jacket flaps.…

Store description
Vero Beach Books is an antiquarian bookseller with a constantly updated inventory of rare out-of-print books, signed books, children's books, plus a large inventory of ephemeral items such as major U.S. city newspapers going back 100 years and more, golden and silver age fine condition comic books (soon to be added), and many other ephemeral items as well as much more recent popular volumes. We have been in business for 25 years, originally known as Emerson Books (named after one of our owner's favorite authors, to wit, Ralph Waldo Emerson) located back then in Westport, Connecticut. That said, we are here to serve you, to offer you fine quality items that are conservatively described so that you will always be pleasantly surprised and delighted with your purchase. Twenty-five years in the bookselling business has borne out our stellar service oriented reputation; the only difference is that now we are located in the almost always sunny and warm climate of Vero Beach, Florida. Again, we are here to serve you and, as was the case when we were previously known on ABEBooks.com as Emerson Books, we will continue to offer our very popular 100% free search service for those hard to find books rare and out of print books. Oftentimes we are also able to obtain these rare finds at very good discounts to our customers' so it is always worth contacting us in such cases!
