About this Item
The publisher of this volume, Bharat Kala Bhavan, is widely recognized as the finest university museum in India. Founded in 1920 and originally associated with the great Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, it rose to its current prominence under the guidance of the renowned art historian, Rai Krishnadasa. The present work is a felicitation volume for Rai Krishnadasa, who passed away just prior to its completion. A total of 53 scholarly papers are included, by a constellation of international scholars, with focus on the fine arts and archaeology of India (xiv, 323 pp., 75 col. pl. tipped in, followed by 655 b&w photos in 162 unnumbered pp., with 40 pp. rear section of advertisements, including additional 12 tipped in col. plates.). Bound in beige linen. Traces of tape residue on endpapers, and a couple of internal pp. foxed due to contact with photo section front & end pages. All other pages pristine; overall a fine, unread copy. Text in English. (A set of Chhavi Vols. 1 & 2 may also be available - please contact us or refer to our other listings.) Size: 34 x 26 cm.
