Adolph Sutro, Mayor San Francisco, Chairman.' to oppose the Central Pacific and Southern Pacific Railroad's proposal to refinance its debt to the US government. The pamphlet, addressed 'to the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States,' accuses the railroad and it's owners--Leland Stanford, Collis Huntington, Charles Crocker, and Mark Hopkins--of fraud. The conclusion of the pamphlet reprints two essays by John T. Doyle, which had appeared in The Nation. Many similar pamphlets were issued in the mid-1890s. Cowan and Cowan, Bibliography of the History of California, p. 509. First edition (first printing). Very good in wrappers (paperback).
