The Centaur received the National Book Award for Fiction in 1964. 8vo, gray boards sunned tan and lightly soiled, black cloth backstrip with gilt and silver gilt lettering, top edge decoratively tinted red, other edges and page margins age-toned, in unclipped ($4.00) DJ with considerable wear to edges and two tears in back flap fold (1" at bottom, 2" in middle). Names of former owners Ann and Warner Berthoff written on ffep with date March 1963, his marginalia on front flap of DJ and approximately 13 pages. Seller Inventory # WBB-454
