About the Authors

Leanda de Lisle is the author of ‘After Elizabeth’. She was educated at Somerville College, Oxford, where she took an honours degree in Modern History. A successful journalist and writer she has been a columnist for the Spectator, the Guardian, Country Life and the Daily Express, as well as writing for the Daily Mail, the New Statesman and the Sunday Telegraph. She lives in Leicestershire with her husband and three children.

Peter Stanford’s previous books include biographies of Lord Longford, Cardinal Basil Hume and the Devil. He has written an investigation of the Pope Joan legend and a polemical book, ‘Catholics and Sex’, which accompanied a Channel 4 television series. He contributes regularly to the Guardian, the Sunday Telegraph and the New Statesman. A regular broadcaster, he is also chairman of the national disability charity ASPIRE.
