Ogle Esqr to G. Hayter - 1812" and bookplate recording presentation "To Angelo C. Hayter from his affectionate father Sir George Hayter, 1864" on front pastedown endpaper. Sir George Hayter (1792-1871) was a notable artist (appointed Principal Painter in Ordinary to, and knighted by, Queen Victoria). Angelo Collen Hayter, (1819-1898) his son also a painted, exhibiting at the Royal Academy 1848-1852, but followed a career as a civil servant. Front board with front free endpaper detached from textblock, covers rubbed and scuffed, spine worn and chipped with some loss, contents Good with occasional mild foxing.
