Yellow cloth. Small octavo. Printed yellow dust jacket with price on flap. First edition. A study of the 1921 trial and subsequent appeals of two Italian immigrants sentenced to death for the murder of a payroll clerk and guard in Braintree, Mass. Frankfurter, who served as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court from 1939-1962, was a strong critic of the prosecution's case and an advocate for reform in the criminal justice field. A very good copy with light wear. The text is very good and clean. The jacket is worn with a 2 1/2 inch piece missing from the bottom of the spine and a small piece from the lower rear panel.
