Item description from seller

See photos for condition details. Hardcover, original 1894 binding of maroon cloth boards half bound with tan cloth on spine. Exterior shows some spotting and soiling with very minor corner bumps/wear. Spine is very dark and has turned dark brown. Leather label on spine also shows edge chipping. The internal binding is good and text pages are tight. The dark gray end pages and pastedowns to show some white spots in the gutters but that is just loss to the finish. The front pastedown contains a large bookplate showing the crest of arms of John Watson Morrell and the second end page contains a very brief gift inscription showing he received this as a gift for Christmas, 1894. No other handwriting found in the book, and elaborate markings. Pages are clean and only issue noted is a very small chip at the center bottom of the title page.
