Item description from seller

First Edition. Octavo. First issue, with original 1200 Francs to rear wrap, without over-stamped price. Rare in its first state, as this sexually explicit novel-pseudonymously written by Terry Southern and Mason Hoffenberg-was quickly condemned by French authorities. Publisher Maurice Girodias countered by designing new wrappers for unbound sheets, under the title Lollipop, and writing a new preliminary signature, to disguise the work from vice squad officers. Minor rubbing to green wrappers; near fine. A sharp copy housed in green cloth clamshell case with leather lettering piece to spine.
