"I have a deep appreciation for Paul. His story inspires me. His writings have shaped my life more than any but the Gospels. Though I'm aware of his shortcomings and at times disagree with him, I believe his life, when viewed as a whole, reveals a heroic figure who sought to exemplify what it means to faithfully follow Jesus Christ. I believe God still speaks through his words, nearly two thousand years after they were written, in order to help us know Christ and live as his followers. - from the Introduction and inner front jacket flap. "What would lead a first-century rabbi to travel for thousands of miles by sea and by land, to be beaten, imprisoned, and ultimately beheaded for his faith? It was a call - a call to turn the world upside down. This is the story of the Apostle Paul, whose writings have shaped the lives of one-third of the world's population, a man second only to Jesus in his influence on Christian faith, and whose witness defines what it means to follow Jesus Christ." - from the inner front jacket flap. "Adam Hamilton demonstrates theologically and spiritually how indispensable the Apostle Paul is to the early Christian and 21st century church. I recommend this book with utmost Christian enthusiasm." - Dr. Israel Kamudzandu, Associate Professor of New Testament and Biblical Interpretation, Saint Paul School of Theology. "Adam Hamilton has proven to be a faithful guide to applying the Bible to modern life in a sane and balanced way, and I trust him as an interpreter of the Apostle Paul for today." - Philip Yancey, author. "Pastor and teacher Adam Hamilton succeeds brilliantly in introducing the life and ministry of Paul. Adam's interweaving of pesonal testimony and ministry insights provides important lessons for Christian disciples today - something Paul himself would have readily welcomed." - Dr. Mark Wilson, Asia Minor Research Center, Antalya, Turkey. "I regularly lead groups of seminary students, alums, clergy, and laity on immersion trips to Greece and Turkey. This book will certainly be on my reading list." - Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, Associate Professor of New Testament, Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professor, Perkins School of Theology.
