Within a notable group of heavy-hitters Samuel Delany, Vonda McIntyre, Frederik Pohl, Fritz Leiber, Robert Thurston, and Joanna Russ emerged a young Octavia Butler, whose story "Crossover" represents her first appearance in book form.
