First edition. 12" x 10 1/2" in color chromolithograph illustrated wrappers with striking cover art on front cover showing brazier burning, with griffin holding an elaborate stove pipe cover, framed in ivy, against wallpaper backdrop. Back cover offers an illustration of the newly erected factory. 49, [1] pp. Woodcut engraved plates throughout. An exceedingly scarce and well illustrated catalog of Victorian cook stoves, base heaters, parlor stoves, magazine stoves, base burners, and more. Originally established in 1819 by Jacob Resor the company quickly grew and by 1836, his sons William and Reuben Resor had not only substantially expanded the business, but also obtained a patent for the Resor Cooking Stove, and were considered the finest in fuel economy, durability, quality, and elegance. In July 7, 1881, the company suffered the catastrophic loss of both factory and warehouses, so this catalog was issued not only announcing the building and opening of the new factory, but also adding additional stoves and lines to the company?s production. In 1882, the company employed nearly 400 steel workers, molders, and machinists, eventually producing 50,000 stoves and ranges per year. Minor soot soiling to fore-edges, some edgewear, minor creasing to corners, minor chipping to foot of spine with minor loss. Still a very good, bright copy.
