About this Item
[ex-rental library book with typical stamps and other markings on endpapers, worn but still firmly bound, reasonably clean as these things go; the jacket's a bit of a mess, though, backed with brown paper and firmly glued down at the flaps, heavily worn at all edges and corners, chipping to spine, both panels rubbed/scuffed, etc.]. Amusing Depression-Era novel about "a lot of wise guys whose fingers got calloused from rubbing against ticker tape and whose shirts disappeared down a canyon called Wall Street, [and who] figured they could beat the depression with a pair of shorts, a cornfield, and a cow." Specifically, an ex-executive and his pal (and their families) decide to go back to the land at a bucolic spot called Shady Acres in Klotz Corners, Pennsylvania. "They swap sunken bathtubs, salary cuts, and delicatessen for the plough, the milking stool, the outhouse, and cut-throat mortgages.". Seller Inventory # 17025
