Item description from seller

8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall. Upper wrapper detached (but present); slight creases, small chips and nicks to wrappers (chiefly at head of spine and corners); slight bumping to corners; slight internal uniform browning throughout. 470, [8] pages. Adventure set in India in the mid-19th century; with the 'Burmah' of the title referring to a ship and its cargo, and not the country. Notable also for the vintage advertisements preceding and following the text, plus the title page statement 'Author of 'The New Prodigal' ' (not found in any other reference work). BMC, volume 23, page 381, column 26; not located in Wright (which makes us suspect a British origin for this elusive author). Scarce and unusual work, in fairly readable condition all around.Advertising Matter.
