About this Item
Very good to fine condition with no large chips to paper covers. No foxing or tanning or odor. These were obtained from the remnants of the Interstate Commerce Commission libray and were well protected in boxes for decades. A teasure trove for Railroadmen regarding what it was like back in the day for them. Each has pocket watch advertisements and half page advertisments for locomotives along with a very detailed engravings for the locomotive. We have provided an example of the locomotive pages (not necessarily the actual page from this copy). Watch advertisers include: Keystone, Dueber, Hampden-Dueber, Ball and Non-Magnetic. Locomotive advertisers with images include Richmond Locomotive and Machine Works, Richmond Va., Roger's Locomotive and Machine Works, Paterson, N.J., Schenectady Locomotive Works, Schenectady N.Y., Pittsburgh Locomotive and Car Works. Pittsburg, Pa, Baldwin Locomotive Works, Philadelphia, Pa., Brooks Locomotive Works, Dunkirk, NY. This is the original journal complete and around 130 years old. A remarkable survival. Backed with cardboard and in a plastic bag to protect. May have a small address sticker on the cover or elswhere as shown in the example copy pictured. Price is for one journal. Pictures are examples of condition and not necessarily this copy. This copy has a testimonial of the accuracy of a particular watch, number 648239 (Dueber Hampden) on the rear cover. The owner was E. S. Blocker, Engineer, C. & E. R.R. If you have this watch this is your lucky day. Or, if you see things differently, please contact me. I may be interested in buying your watch.
