The first edition of this vanishingly scarce concise work on Sefton Church by Thomas Ashcroft. The first edition of this vanishingly scarce work, with only one record of this work being held institutionally, at the British Library.Sefton Church is notable for its extensive carved woodwork which dates from the Tudor era. The church as it stands now was extensively rebuilt during the reign of Henry VIII, prior to the Reformation.By Thomas Ashcroft of Lydiate, a parish of Sefton. In the original paper covered boards. Externally, a little worn, with loss and lifting to the spine. Light marks and rubbing to the boards. Minor bumping to the extremities. Front hinge is starting but firm. Front endpaper has been removed. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and generally clean. Good.
