First American Edition. -- Condition: Fine -- Details: Chief Constable Sir Clinton Driffield is brought in to unravel the mystery of whose shotgun was responsible for the death of Johnnie Brandon whilst out rabbit shooting with a party of guests. J. J. Connington (1880-1947) was the pseudonym of the eminent British chemist Professor Alfred Walter Stewart, whose detective novels attain a high degree of technical ingenuity. First American edition, title page date '1934', with 'Published September 1934' stated on copyright page, and no mention of further printings. First published in the same year as 'The Ha-Ha Case' by Hodder and Stoughton, London. -- References: Reilly, 'Twentieth-Century Crime and Mystery Writers' (1980), 346.
