Book condition is near fine. Spine intact. Text body clean. Book block clean. Dust jacket is near fine and minimal shelf wear. Arriving in Australia at he age of Nineteen, Alex Phillipps worked briefly on several farming properties before taking up virgin clock in the Kojonup District. For years he alternated between working as a surveyor in the far north during the dry season and returning during lay-up to work on and invest his earnings in the property. The accounts of the various surveying excursion are unique and are accompanied by a most interesting collection of photographs. The second half of the book, when the farm had become the priority, tells a tale of courage and determination which clearly stamps the Phillipps Family as latter day pioneers. What makes the tale extraordinary is contained in the one simple sentence on the final page, repeated on the flyleaf of the book. Boo weight is 0.406kg.
