Item description from seller

Tight binding. New Edition—Illustrated, published by Alhambra Book Co., Chicago. Original red cloth hardcover with gilt “Card Tricks” pictorial decoration and gilt spine lettering. Cloth shows considerable age-related wear, rubbing, staining and edge/corner wear, with a substantial area of surface loss to the front board near the spine. Rear board has staining and spotting. Interior shows substantial age toning, edge wear and occasional spotting; preliminary leaves have some edge loss. Front hinge/endpaper area shows reinforcement. No dust jacket present. Exceptional magician provenance: front pastedown bears the ownership stamp “CLINT MILLIKEN – Magician – 1617 Marietta St. South Bend, Ind.” and preliminary title page bears a large “PROPERTY OF CLINT MILLIKEN” label. Please Zoom Photos. Description The Book of Card Tricks: Principles of Sleight of Hand by Prof. R. Kunard, published in Chicago by the Alhambra Book Co. An illustrated instructional work devoted to card magic and sleight of hand, described on the title page as intended “for drawing-room and stage entertainments,” with tricks practiced by card sharps and swindlers also discussed. This copy has significant documented professional-magician provenance. It belonged to Clint Milliken of South Bend, Indiana, whose ownership is established by both his magician’s address stamp and his personal property label. Milliken was an active American magician documented professionally from at least the 1940s through the 1970s. Contemporary records identify him specifically as a magician and later as a comedy magician, while Abbott Magic’s historical records list Clint Milliken (The Millikens) as an Abbott Get-Together performer in 1949 and 1957. A particularly appealing association copy of an early card-magic manual from the working library of a documented professional magician.
