Prima edizione di questo singolare tentativo di moderno poema in 4 canti in ottave, impresa volutamente anacronistica di recuperare forme metriche e strutture dell'antica lirica italiana. Protagonista del poema è il giovane Boccaccio, di cui è liberamente narrata la biografia. L'opera sua maggiore, che doveva dargli la fama e instradarlo definitivamente alle lettere, il poema giocoso in ottave, Boccaccino (Bari 1920). Boccaccino narra la giovinezza di Giovanni Boccaccio a Napoli, da quando lo scrittore del Trecento, ancora fanciullo, aveva dovuto lasciare la casa paterna per contrasti con la matrigna, all'episodio dell'innamoramento per Maria d'Aquino, alla conquista della donna, alla successiva delusione, alla riconquistata fiducia e serenità, dopo gli spasimi quasi tragici del sentimento. Il Balsamo Crivelli volle cogliere in questa fase della vita del Boccaccio qualche analogìa con la propria adolescenza e giovinezza. Fatto sta che nel poema non mancano i toni affettuosi e sentiti (particolarmente ricordati sono i brani del contrasto tra Giovanni e la matrigna e del primo incontro amoroso fra il poeta e Maria d'Aquino); anche se il più delle volte il lettore rimane colpito e sopraffatto dalla monotonia incessante delle ottave, che si snodano l'una dietro l'altra, tutte egregiamente cesellate e finite, tutte in sé e per sé gustose ed efficaci. La perizia tecnica dello scrittore è notevole; i modelli (che qui sono Boiardo e Pulci e Berni, e gli scrittori dei cantari trecenteschi) vengono arieggiati con innegabile disinvoltura e, quasi sempre, con sobrio buon gusto; il Balsamo Crivelli stesso non manca di sensibilità e di affetti genuini: eppure tutto ciò non impedisce che il proposito (in partenza assurdo, a pensarci bene, e impossibile a realizzarsi) di ricollegare direttamente la creazione poetica del Novecento a quella delle origini, scavalcando non solo il futurismo e l'ermetismo, ma anche D'Annunzio, Pascoli, Carducci, e il romanticismo, e tutto il resto, produca un frutto inequivocabilmente artificiale, su cui grava un sospetto d'inutilità. Al Boccaccino è collegato, nonostante i caratteri arcaicizzanti dell'opera, un episodio del dibattito critico del Novecento. È noto, infatti, che l'opera venne pubblicata dalla casa editrice Laterza per indicazione di Benedetto Croce, che l'aveva letta manoscritta, e che più tardi diede sul Boccaccio un giudizio assai più lusinghiero di quanti altri si pronunciarono nei suoi confronti negli stessi anni. Potrebbe apparire strana questa predilezione del grande pensatore per il chiuso misoneista, rifacitore di modi antichi e di temi sorpassati. In realtà il giudizio del Croce si colloca coerentemente all'interno della valutazione negativa che egli diede di tutta o quasi tutta la poesia postcarducciana. L'opera del Balsamo Crivelli gli serviva infatti a dimostrare che i moduli della poesia decadente non erano necessariamente gli unici che il Novecento potesse da sé generare, e, nello stesso tempo, comprovava la possibilità che una poesia potesse manifestarsi libera e sovrana, per forza propria autogenerantesi, indipendentemente da tutte le condizioni (strutturali, linguistiche, ideali) imposte da una determinata età. La benevola approvazione del Croce permise comunque al Balsamo Crivelli di superare molti degli ostacoli, editoriali e letterari, frapposti alla sua tardiva entrata nel mondo della poesia. Dal 1920 fino alla sua morte il B. pubblicò un numero grandissimo di raccolte poetiche, di romanzi, racconti, novelle, descrizioni di viaggi, rivelandosi di una fecondità insospettata. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the the last good or the last lot or piece.

You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory. You can also electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to us or Gilibert Libreria Antiquaria (ILAB-LILA), Galleria Subalpina 17 , 10123, Torino, 10123, Torino, TO, Italy, +39 0115619225, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your cancellation from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
