About this Item

48 pages, large print on large paper, large slim quarto. The collaboration of these two illustrator/writers has triumphed. The colour plates and line drawing really give a period 1940's English feel. Boards clean, but with a bump at top edge near spine, wrapper has some edge wear, a closed tear and a light tea splot, seen more from inside than the front. A Good+ to VG copy. Quarto. Scarce in its first state. 1944. Reprinted in 1945/47 & then in the 1950's.

We are a small, single-owner business. We have been operating on and off since 1977 and our stock is varied, leaning towards antiquarian and 19th century with the addition of original aquatint and lithographic, or woodcut engravings. Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
