Binding thread visible in places but still tight overall. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. 1st edition. 1st printing. 1898. Olive green cloth boards with gilt decoration to front and gilt tiling to spine. Top page edges gilt.Lighht bumping to bottom edge of spine and a little wear to top edge. Black endpapers with bookplate of F. Bethune Morgan to PDEP.Frontipiece tissue has foxing as do title page and the first two pages of Preface. There are very occasional fox spots occurring in the text, which is firmly bound, and generally very clean and bright. Illustrations are handpainted b&w by B.
