blue publisher's cloth; Signed by author and Inscribed to Fairfield Osborn on the half title page; du Nouy [1883-1947] was a member of the Rockefeller Institute and Chief of the Molecular Biophysics division of the Pasteur Institute in Paris; Fairfield Osborn was a Board member of New York Zoological Society [Bronx Zoo] and a longtime President of The American Museum of Natural History; du Nouy thanks him for a delightful day at the Zoo; also laid in is a signed AUTOGRAPH LETTER in small tight but easily readable hand writing from du Nouy on his letterhead to Osborn and in 4 paragraphs covers various topics including Osborn's use of du Nouy's experience in building and organizing research laboratories, enclosure of two of the author's books, possible use of Osborn's publisher and reference to a social occasion with the two of them and their wives; the lettering on the book's spine is faint being black print on dark blue cloth; small paper clip residue on the front paste down and front free end paper otherwise very good condition; 180 pp.
