Although dated in some respects (this is the original 1946 First edition), the book does not contain dialect and shows the young Black main character - Billy Bates, in a positive light: "Billy Bates", by Mabel Garrett Wagner, New York: Friendship Press, 1946, First printing in original wraps as issued. Measures 7 1/2" X 8 3/4", 54 pages copiously illustrated with black and white photos. In as-found condition with wear at extremities but overall a nice representation.
