Review
With all the latter day film industry work, it's easy to forget what george Barrris did for the fledgling hot rod publishing induatry, and for those that read those magazines, from 'how to' on custom tricks to show reports and even car features. And although this book begins in the 1940's when brotehrs Sam and George Barris worked together andf helped form the custom car movment, it's much more than just a history of the work that came out of Barris Kustoms over the years - much of which is already well documented. instead, it's spilt into threee chapters - one on the early years, one on George's easy re-styling ideas which contains mostly examples of other early customizer's work, and one on cars photographed by Barris, As such, it's a great record of pioneering custom work done by some of the industry's greatese exponents. Captions are detailed and informative, picture usage in great, and it gets a big thrumbs up from us. CC Verdict: Not a new book, but a great ideas book and, if you can't find something in here of interest, you're not a hot rocker. --Custom Car Magazine, Januray 2009
