One Hundred years will have passed since seven commissioners were elected as representatives of the Town District to the inaugural Morrinsville Town Board. There were then a few more than fifty houses within the town boundary, just three roads, a railway station with Post Office, two churches, a school, a hotel, a smattering of businesses, and once a week banking. To achieve better facilities for the settloement it had been agreed that a form of organisation was necessary. The Town Board was the outcome.
