Item description from seller

The first edition of Henry Hart Milman's dramatic religious poem, in a full calf decorative binding. The first edition.Bound in decorative full calf with gilt tooling to the borders and spine.Henry Hart Milman was an English historian and ecclesiastic. He was a professor of poetry at Oxford and has written many works. This religious poem is based on the biblical even of Belshazzar's feast, and the mysterious writing of the wall. The influence of Byron can be seen in this poem as his poetical works tended to be tragic. Bound in full calf. Externally lovely with only the slightest marks to the boards and very minimal edge wear. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with the odd spot, slightly heavier to the front. Owner's ink inscription to the front blank. Fine.
