Sir Hugh Garrard Tyrwhitt-Drake was a local landowner and businessman, very involved in the politics and life of Maidstone in Kent. He also ran a private zoo (said to be the largest in England) in the grounds of his substantial home. This is the first of two books about his experiences. With photos and line drawings, the binding is good, but not perfect, there is light tanning and the cover, again, whilst intact is stained. There are some extraordinary photographs and, although now this sort of husbandry might be frowned upon, the author appears to fully respect and admire his menagerie. Seller Inventory # H32BAC
