Approx. size 7" x 4.5", Introductory and valedictory poems by East Anglian poet Bernard Barton, with a single page at the beginning and the end of the book. Publisher's original publisher's dark green cloth with ornate designs blind-stamped to covers and spine, lettering to spine and front cover in gilt, original yellow coated endpapers present, light wear at top/lower edges of spine, corners a little rubbed, front inner hinge cracked but still firm and sound, old name crossed out on front endpaper, some foxing to prelims, otherwise a very good copy with a previous owner's signature of A.P. Moor, 1841 very likely to be a family member related to the author with a note to endpaper "Bought at the Bazaar," 100 copies only. There is also a bookplate of Sir Arthur Gordon (1829 - 1912) a British Colonial Official. An alluring account of the ghostly ringing of servant's bells in Bealings House in Great Bealings, Suffolk. an unexplained occurrence of paranormal bell-ringing which lasted from February 2nd until March 27th 1834 when it stopped as quickly as it started. The ultimate cause or reason for the bell ringing was never discovered. NB: a copy of this work was sold at the Andrew Steven's Collection of Ghost, Supernatural and Weird Stories which was held at Sotheby's in Dec 1996.
