Here is valuable counsel on the fickle nature of stock market dynamics. This book is hard-boiled, realistic, and at times unorthodox. Gerald Loeb promises no shortcuts to wealth; neither does it take the perspective that Wall Street is a snare and delusion. A succinct, straight-forward, uncompromising revelation of market technique and philosophy by one successful enough to make his views worth reading. How do intelligent investors behave through fluctuations? Gerald M. Loeb, a founding partner of E.F. Hutton & Co. brokerage, was a renowned Wall Street broker, trader, and investor. He offers his distilled strategies that are not mere tips, tricks, or short cuts; they are born from his experience and knowledge. All based on timeless, rock-solid principles that Loeb tested and profited from. This memorable classic, first published in 1935, sold over 200,000 copies during the Great Depression. Loeb updated the book here in 1957 and later 1965, as it attained the status of hallowed financial text. Loeb first published this for investors burned with buy-and-hold investments in supposedly safe stocks. He considered a speculative attitude essential for profitable investments, while remaining generally conservative and holding bulk of his portfolio in cash or equivalents. The Wall Street crash of 1929 greatly affected Loeb's style, making him skeptical of holding for the long term. Loeb offered a contrarian viewpoint, in books and columns for Barron's, Wall Street Journal and Investor Magazine. Forbes called Loeb "the most quoted on Wall Street." G. M. Loeb offers a fresh perspective from times past. The turf is Wall Street, the goal is to preserve capital, and to win is to "make a killing without being killed." Loeb treats a straight-forward account of "how to profit and avoid profit loss" in what he describes "the constant tug-of-war between rising and falling markets." "Most 'advisors' are telling to diversify into stocks, bonds, foreign stocks, and perhaps gold, to spread risk; Loeb tells us to put all our eggs in one basket, and watch the basket." John Rothchild, Financial Columnist, Time magazine. "This book is very special and the very first INVESTING book I ever read. After reading 1,200 additional finance books, 'The Battle for Investment Survival's' principles and concepts remain valid for consistent success." Victor Sperandeo, Author of Trader Vic on Commodities. 320 pages. Insured post. Size: 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" Tall.…
