1935. 8pp including covers. Very Good. Slight scuffing/soiling to covers, minor spotting. A beautifully produced menu for the Lord Mayor's Banquet, at the Guildhall, London on 9.11.35. The menu also includes a toast list, a brief history of the Lord Mayor's Banquet, a brief description of the Livery Companies of the Lord Mayor and the Sheriffs, and a programme of music. The decoration of the programme is lavish and features illuminated lettering and coats of arms. The decoration is adapted from the manuscript known as 'Recordatorium' which Andrew Horn, the famous City Chamberlain, bequeathed to the Guildhall in 1328. The title page is an adaptation of the first folio of Fitzstephen's 'Description of London'. There is also an exact facsimile of folio 6 of Recordatorium, containing an excerpt from the 'Tresor' of Brunetto Latini. This is a really beautifully produced piece of historical ephemera. Tucked inside the menu is a seating plan for the Banquet. The Lord Mayor of London at the time was Sir Percy Vincent, the Sheriffs were Lt-Col John Dawson Laurie and Col William James Waldron.
