George Preshaw’s personal account of his banking days on the goldfields of New South Wales, Victoria and New Zealand is a classic. With dry humour he details the hardships he endured in carrying out his often hazardous duties as a bank official, collecting and buying gold from the diggers who worked in sometimes unimaginable conditions.
