SARGENT, F[itzWilliam] W. and ATLEE, W[alter] F. On Bandaging, and Other Operations of Minor Surgery . New Edition, with an Additional Chapter on Military Surgery. Phila.: Blanchard and Lea, 1862. 1st ed. thus. 383pp. Illus. Orig. embossed cloth. Minor rubbing to tips of lower corners, small ink stain on rear board, else near fine. Cardasco 1568. Originally published in 1848, this is an expanded edition to meet the needs of military medicine during the Civil War. Owing to the absence of the Author in Europe, this has been prepared by Dr. W. F. Atlee. Philadelphia, March, 1862" (Preface, p. vii). Atlee's additional chapter is pp. 350-373. FitzWilliam Sargent, a Philadelphia physician and Fellow of the College of Physicians of Philadelphia, was the father of the painter John Singer Sargent. Walter Franklin Atlee practiced medicine in Philadelphia for 50 years. He was the eldest son of the noted Lancaster County surgeon John Light Atlee. With the ownership stamp "George R. Brush, M.D., U.S. Navy, Sayville, L.I., N.Y." Brush served in the Civil War as a surgeon and medical inspector form 1861-1864.…
