Item description from seller

First edition of this uncommon Robinson title, a play about a woman, her grandson, and three brownies, with musical interludes. Robinson "helped create new canons of beauty and taste" in the early years of the Golden Age of Illustration, becoming "one of the most popular illustrators of children's literature during that prolific period spanning the transition from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. It is right that his work should be remembered for the high degree of care and craftsmanship which went into it" (de Freitas, 30). 10'' x 7.5''. Original grey cloth with pictorial paste-on. Pictorial endpapers. Illustrated with 5 tipped-in color plates on heavy brown stock plus 35 in-text illustrations by Robinson. 82, [6] pages. Light soil to boards and a few margins. Front hinge starting but firm. Vivid and bright.
