Folio format. A run of 39 yearly Acts on Defraying the Charge of the Pay and Cloathing of the Militia issued between 2 George III (1762) and 39 George III (1799), including two related Acts for the year 1767. Woodcut Royal coats of arms, headbands, and decorative initials. Text in black letter (up to 1793). Neatly extracted from bound volumes. All but three Acts have the general title leaf. A few with minor wrinkling and very light damp stains. These Acts outlined the approved sums of money to be used for defraying the charge of pay and clothing for the Militia, the prescribed pay scales for officers and men, and the course of punishment for neglect of duty, misbehaviour, and desertion. In accordance with parliamentary procedures, the Act was updated on a yearly basis, and this collection includes all the Acts on Defraying the Charge of the Pay and Cloathing of the Militia issued between 1762 and 1799.
