First Nina Jordan-illustrated editions of these four Cubby Bear titles, rarely found in their original box. Beloved children's book author Thornton Burgess enjoyed lasting success in the first half of the 20th century, with a regular newspaper column, a radio show, and an array of merchandise including dishes. This attractive gift set of four titles from his Cubby Bear series is a rare survival. 4.25'' x 5.25'' (books); 5'' x 11.5'' (box). Original color pictorial boards. Original unclipped (no price) color pictorial dust jackets. Illustrated in color. Each book with [24] pages. In original color pictorial box. Box with some rubbing to edges and spots of color touchup, a couple closed tears to edges of box lid with corresponding small tape repairs to verso. Jackets with mild edgewear, a few tiny closed tears with tape repairs to verso. Bindings with a hint of bumping to corners and spine ends. Clean.
