Book size about 6 by 9 inches with some 166 pages. Bound in color illustrated gray wraps. Numerous maps and illustrations throughout including a fold-out map at the front. The author calls this the 'People's Pictorial Edition' and claims the book to be derived mostly from contributions by Union and Confederate Officers--condensed and arranged for popular reading. Sounds kind of like The Idiot's Guide To The Civil War. Nonetheless a good read and a good overview for those who want to know what happened without delving too deeply. Book with light overall wear most noticeable as rubbing along the spine edges; previous owner name neatly at the front in at least three places.
