First edition. A "Photoplay" edition, illustrated with colored plates after the scenes in the movie starring Douglas Fairbanks and with a montage of black-and-white movie stills on rear panel of the dust jacket. Red cloth boards stamped in black; 12 pages of ads at rear. Few tiny holes to front spine gutter, marginal spotting to plates and opposing pages, otherwise about very good with spine slightly shaken; in like dust jacket with marginal chipping to spine ends and corners and spine slightly tanned and rubbed. The Quill & Brush was established in 1976 by Allen and Patricia Ahearn as an open store carrying first editions and fine art. At present it is by appointment only and housed in the home of the Ahearn's eldest daughter, Beth Ahearn Fisher, who is carrying on the family bookselling tradition. Our current stock of approximately 3,500 books consists mainly of first editions of American and English Literature including Mysteries and Detective Stories, Science Fiction, Children's and Illustrated Books. We also collectible books in all fields. Over the years, we have published more than 200 individual Author Price Guides; and Allen and Patricia authored the well-regarded books on book collecting, "Collected Books: The Guide to Identification and Values" (4th ed., 2011) and "Book Collecting 2000: A Comprehensive Guide."
