About this Item
First edition. 8vo.pp.248 including maps, charts and illustrations discoloration to binding at foot of spine, dust wrapper previously repaired on reverse with tape chipped and price clipped. Grey cloth hardcover in original pictorial dust wrapper. The germans considered INTERALLIE "The biggest and most dangerous organisation posessed by the enemy ", and its head, Armand (Wing Commander Roman Czerniawski), "a legendary man, a brilliant organiser and a first class General Staff Officer". Operating four secret radio stations in the heart of occupied Paris, and sending regular written reportd by courier to London, Interallie establisjer the position and movements of every german unit in occupied France. Armand himself was the first to be flown out of and into enemy territory, and he crossed the fronteir fifteen times. After the famous trial of La Chatte (Mathilde Carre, The Cat.) in 1949, speculation was rife as to the identity and whereabouts of Armand, her boss, who organised and led the great Interallie network. Here at last is his own story, released, after fifteen years, with permission of the War Office. Authentic, thrilling, debonair and matter-of-fact, it is a thriller for the layman and a highly important document for all interested in intelligence. Seller Inventory # 195278
