Chesterton bibliography by the Chesterton scholar and collector Dr. Geir Hasnes is published and ready for shipping. The Bibliography has more than 31,500 bibliographically noted items. The price is US$ 200 for the three volume set. G. K. Chesterton (1874-1936) was an incredibly prolific journalist and author, and probably wrote more than ten thousand essays, poems, short stories, books and plays. He probably also gave at least one thousand public speeches where most have been reported in the press quoting them in part or in full. Chesterton was incredibly popular in his lifetime, and generated an enormous amount of activity around his literary production, something which has not ceased at all. This may be seen from the sheer number of books and articles written about him, the number of translations now into thirty-eight languages, and the various other chapters, that together try to give as complete picture as possible of Chesterton?s life and legacy. The bibliographer has attempted to find and verify every single item listed in the bibliography. In very few cases, the search has ended without a result, as that book, booklet or periodical issue has not been found in any library or with any collector. However, all Chesterton's printed pieces have been found in print. The bibliography is to be considered not so much a book, as a tool for the researcher of G. K. Chesterton?s life, for the eager Chesterton collector who treasures the author?s books and articles, and for the antiquarian bookseller, who shall handle the Chestertonian customers in the future. The bibliography is in itself not a treasure chest, but rather a treasure map to those Chesterton treasures lying in wait for you. Geir Hasnes (b. 1957) is a Norwegian independent researcher who has concentrated his research in recent years on G. K. Chesterton. For this work, he was awarded the American Chesterton Society?s Lifetime Achievement Award already in 2006. Little did he then know how much more work would lie in front of him, as more and more sources became available each year, and library search became more feasible.
