Synopsis

Written by a shaman, this is an account of what the author learned while travelling the medicine (mystic) path, and how it was revealed to him. Many anecdotes and adventure stories are used to illustrate his points. This book unfolds the essence of two powerful teachings. First are the "fire teachings", through which one discovers how to live a balanced and harmonious life on Earth amidst its many creatures. When this knowledge is mastered and adequately applied in daily life, one is ready for the "stone teachings". These are the elevated insights that one can discover in the higher reaches of the mystic path. The book also has a slant on similarities from the Native American point of view, between Native medicine practices and certain aspects of mystical Christianity. The author's main concern is that we live in a time of transition when the essence that underlies Native American ritual and ceremony needs to be more widely appreciated; thus he concerns himself much more with delivering a vision of that solid core rather than its relatively ephemeral outer trappings.
