Item description from seller

Garden City, New York: Published for The Crime Club by Doubleday, Doran and Company, 1950. First edition, first printing. "First edition" statement to the copyright page, 1950 to the title page, author's name misspelled 'Ann' instead of 'Anne' to the spine. Later published in England in 1952. The eleventh of twenty-six well-charactered mystery novels featuring Superintendent detective inspector William Austen, a charming, well-dressed, Oxford educated Scotland Yard sleuth with great people study skills, who in this installment, believes a husband is planning to kill his wife. Light age-toning to the end-sheets as usual, a hint of rubbing to the corner tips and upper and lower spine edges, faint small drop stain to the upper page edges, else very good plus, square and firm, in polished black linen boards with green titles and Crime Club's shooting man insignia to the spine; lacking a dust jacket.
