No date. Circa 1920. First impression of the true first edition. Very good in unusual royal blue marbled and black and gold glitter decorated boards. Complete with original tipped-in pink errata slip to page four. Boards bright. Prelims very slightly sporadically foxed. Interior pages clean. Slight pulling at sewn 'stitches' of front hinge of spine. Spine tight. No inscriptions. In a very buff-coloured black printed dustwrapper. Corners and head and tail of dustwrapper slightly rubbed and creased. 1cm closed tear to top edge of front panel of dustwrapper adjoining head of spine of dustwrapper. Light sporadic foxing to front panel of dustwrapper. 144mm x 104mm. 105 pages plus eight-page publishers adverts to rear. ***Contents: What is Beauty?; Banish Blemishes; Your Age and Beauty; A Lovely Head of Hair; Face Packs and Massage; Milk For Beauty!;The Eyes and Their Setting; The Mouth and Lips; Beauty of the Hands; The Care of the Feet; Baths that Beautify; Exercise and Diet; Beauty in All Weathers; Hasty Beauty Treatments for all Occasions; Beauty and Sport; The Art of Make-up. (Quote from inside front panel of dustwrapper). ***'A Beauty Lotion from the past: Elder flower-water is a well-known beautifier that has come to us from centuries past. It clears the complexion, and is an excellent lotion for preventing freckles and sunburn. Pick the flowers when in full bloom and remove the stalks. Place the blooms in a large jar - one of those red ones used to hold bread is ideal - and pour on two quarts of boiling water. when cool, but not cold, add oe and a half ounces of rectified spirit. Cover the top of the jar with a folded cloth and stand in a warm lace for some hours. When quite cold, strain through butter-muslin, and bottle. See that the bottles are corked securely.' Rare, and even scarcer to find complete in its original fragile 1920s fragile dustwrapper in such nice collectable condition. Full of vintage beauty-tips and with vintage publisher's adverts to rear.
