First Edition. 8vo (8.25 x 6 ins). pp xii + 325. Half-title present. Frontispiece (with tissue guard) and 16 plates, plus numerous illustrations in the text plus one map and a folding map at the back, both maps in superb condition with no tears. Original green cloth with black title lettering to front, repeated in gold at spine. Slight lean to text block. Light rubbing to edges and ends of the spine, very minimal. No foxing to be seen. A near fine copy. A record of Harris' journey in 1895-96 from from Tiflis (Tibilisi, the capital of Georgia), through Armenia, across Persia (Iran) to Persian Kurdistan and onto Baghdad.
