The survivors of the Battle of Britain are now all in their 80s and 90s. It is difficult to equate these 'combatants ancienne' to what they once were: the young, fit and courageous fighter pilots who saved the free world in 1940. Dilip Sarkar has moved amongst the survivors for many years, recording their memories, and here shares with us a number of recollections from his enormous archive. Ref KKK 3.
